Alabama Week for the Animals

WHEREAS, pet overpopulation continues to be a problem in Alabama and across the United States; and

WHEREAS, great animal shelters provide progressive programs to help improve the lives of animals in need; and

WHEREAS, Alabama Week for the Animals will bring together organizations, libraries, schools and agencies across Alabama to help celebrate the joy, service and love that animals bring to their lives; and

WHEREAS, spaying and neutering of pets, and adopting from shelters and humane societies are important ways to help address the problem of pet overpopulation; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 5 through March 13, 2011, as

Alabama Week for the Animals

in the state of Alabama.
