Cardiovascular Professionals Week

WHEREAS, the delivery of high quality healthcare has become very complex, and relies on a diverse team of health professionals, particularly in the cardiovascular arena; and

WHEREAS, through the specialization of medicine and growth of technology, cardiovascular health providers work in a variety of disciplines at many levels of healthcare infrastructure; and

WHEREAS, a wide range of professionals make up this diverse team, including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, technologists and technicians; and

WHEREAS, these cardiovascular professionals are invaluable in all aspects of care delivery in cardiovascular settings and are part of the solution for addressing cardiovascular care issues; and

 WHEREAS, this broad-based collaboration has strengthened and benefitted all cardiovascular delivery by increasing the quality, encouraging cost effective approaches and making healthcare more accessible; and

WHEREAS, according to the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, the cardiovascular profession has made significant improvements in the management of cardiovascular disease, including a 50 percent decrease in mortality for coronary artery disease over the past 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Cardiovascular Professionals Week is a nationally recognized week honoring these individuals:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby do proclaim February 13-February 19, 2011 as Alabama’s

Cardiovascular Professionals Week

in the state of Alabama.
