Governor Bentley Appoints Calhoun County District Judge

MONTGOMERY-Governor Robert Bentley today appointed Anniston attorney Mannon G. Bankson, Jr. as Calhoun County District Judge. Bankson fills a vacancy on the court left by the retirement of Judge Gus Colvin.

"I am pleased to appoint Judge Bankson as Calhoun County District Judge," said Bentley. "He brings a wealth of business and law experience and sound judgment to the Court, and I believe he will be an asset to the Calhoun County District Court."

Judge Bankson graduated from The University of Arkansas and received his Juris Doctorate from the Birmingham School of Law in 1984.  He has practiced law for over 20 years. From 2007 until 2009, Judge Bankson served as Circuit Judge for the Alabama 7th Judicial District. He also worked for the Administrative Office of the Courts where he was a Drug Court Referee and developed dependency drug courts in surrounding counties.

Bankson is an active member of his Calhoun County community. He has served as President of the Oxford Rotary Club and is Past Chairman of the Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce.

Bankson and his wife, Donna Sue Bankson, have one son.
