Governor Bentley Appoints Roberts Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge

MONTGOMERY— Governor Robert Bentley today filled a vacancy for Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Place 2 by appointing James Harold (Jim) Roberts, Jr. to the position. Roberts replaces former Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Charles Malone. Malone was appointed in December to serve as Governor Bentley’s Chief of Staff.

Roberts currently serves as President of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association, and has been a member since 1995. He has been a member of the Alabama State Bar Association since 1994. Roberts is a graduate of The University of South Florida and received his Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University in 1994.

“I am so pleased to appoint Jim to serve as Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge”, said Governor Bentley. “His experience in jury trials has given him the knowledge and understanding of the rules of court and evidence. He is well-respected in his community and among his peers, and I know he will serve Tuscaloosa County well.”

Roberts has served as a professor of trial advocacy and evidence for thirteen years. As a continuing legal instructor, he has taught courtroom skills, ethics and other court related topics to Alabama lawyers for the University of Alabama School of Law. He also serves on the Tuscaloosa County Domestic Violence Task Force.

Roberts and his wife, Mary have two children and live in Tuscaloosa.
