Governor Bentley Calls Special Election in Mobile County

MONTGOMERY—Governor Robert Bentley Monday called a Special Election in Mobile County to fill the vacant seat of State House of Representatives District 105. The seat was formerly held by Spencer Collier who recently resigned to serve as Director of Homeland Security in the Bentley Administration.

The Governor sent a letter to Mobile County Probate Judge Don Davis informing him of the Special Election. The Special Primary Election for House District 105 will be held March 22, 2011. If a runoff is necessary, it will be held May 10, 2011, with a General Election date set for June 28, 2011. If no Runoff Election is necessary, the Special General Election will be held May 10, 2011.

“Spencer Collier has been an outstanding representative for District 105,” Governor Bentley said. “I am confident that the people of Mobile County will choose another qualified representative to serve the district well. I look forward to working with our new representative in Montgomery.”

Candidates have until 12:00 noon on February 8, 2011 to qualify with their respective political parties for the election.
