MedicAlert Day

WHEREAS, MedicAlert Foundation was founded in 1956 by Dr. Marion C. and Mrs. Chrissie W. Collins of Turlock, California; and

WHEREAS, MedicAlert, well-known for its MedicAlert identification bracelet and 24 hour access to an individual’s MedicAlert Emergency Medical Information Record, is dedicated to protecting and saving lives by providing medical information and identification in emergencies; and

WHEREAS, MedicAlert is depended upon in times of individual emergencies and natural disasters to provide critical medical information to medical professionals in order to facilitate appropriate treatment to individuals in need; and

WHEREAS, MedicAlert is respected and recommended by emergency responders, medical professionals and health organizations worldwide; and

WHEREAS, MedicAlert Foundation has provided 55 years of lifesaving service to the people of the United States, saving hundreds of thousands of lives and providing comfort and assistance to even more; and

WHEREAS, in 2011, MedicAlert Foundation, which has grown to over 4 million members worldwide with offices in 10 countries and 24,478 members in the State of Alabama, is celebrating its 55th anniversary:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 26, 2011 as

MedicAlert Day

in the State of Alabama.
