Pride in Food Service Week

WHEREAS, “Pride in Food Service Week” was established by the Dietary Managers Association (DMA) to recognize the efforts and achievement of food service workers; and

WHEREAS, food service workers serve nutritious meals and snacks to individuals in nursing homes, hospitals, retirement centers, schools, correctional facilities and military services; and

WHEREAS, they receive training in food safety, sanitation and food service preparation; and

WHEREAS, as our population grows older, the food service worker’s role as part of the long-term care team is becoming more vital; and

WHEREAS, food service workers provide well-balanced nutritious meals that have been prepared for safe consumption for the people they serve:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby do proclaim February 7-February 11, 2011, as

Pride in Food Service Week

in the state of Alabama.
