United States Corps of Chaplains Month

WHEREAS, the United States Corps of Chaplains (USCOC) was established on March 2, 2004 as a uniformed, volunteer, non-sectarian Christian, public service organization, focusing on ministry to all, with a special emphasis on active duty military members, veterans, and their families throughout the United States of America; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the military-style rank structure and uniforms used by USCOC members is to allow for differentiation from other ministries and to permit easy identification for military members and veterans; and

WHEREAS, under the guidance of its founder and National Commander, Chaplain (General) P. Dale Brunette, and the Board of Directors, the ministry mission of the organization is to aid those in distress, honor those who serve, and comfort those in need; and

WHEREAS, USCOC members have distributed Bibles, food, clothing and personal items to those affected by disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and fires; and

WHEREAS, USCOC members are often called upon by public officials to perform invocations, and many serve as Chaplains in local chapters of various national veterans service organizations; and

WHEREAS, the USCOC is available to assist any person who is in need and does not require those experiencing a crisis to undergo a lengthy process or comply with unnecessary mandates to receive help; and

WHEREAS, the primary goal of the USCOC is to extend their presence and availability into every community throughout the nation, and spread the life-changing, good news that is the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through uniformed, Christian ministry teams:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2011, as

United States Corps of Chaplains Month

in the State of Alabama and congratulate the United States Corps of Chaplains on its 7th birthday, March 2, 2011.
