Unity and Friendship Day
WHEREAS, the people of Alabama foster the importance of brotherhood, peace and community by building coalitions and strengthening bonds through the basic principles of unity and friendship; and
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama displays its commitment to solidifying global friendship and peace among all people; and
WHEREAS, the celebration of Unity and Friendship Day will involve all communities, respecting the differences among cultures and lifestyles; and
WHEREAS, Unity and Friendship Day is intended to connect all people, ideas, views and religious beliefs together for the purpose of unity:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim February 27, 2011 as
Unity and Friendship Day
in the state of Alabama.
