Governor Bentley Fills District Judge Vacancy in Clarke County

MONTGOMERY—Governor Robert Bentley has filled a vacancy for Clarke County District Judge by appointing James Harding Morgan, J.R. to the position. Morgan replaces former Clarke County District Judge Bill Kimbrough who is retiring after 16 years on the bench.

 

Morgan currently serves as Assistant District Attorney with the First Judicial Circuit. Morgan is a graduate of The University of South Alabama where he received a Bachelor’s of Art in Criminal Justice as well as a Master’s of Public Administration. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in 2006.  

 

“Working as an Assistant District Attorney in Clarke County, J.R. Morgan has experienced nearly every type of case to prepare him for this position,” said Governor Robert Bentley. “I believe he is more than qualified and will serve the citizens of Clarke County with honesty and integrity.”

 

Morgan is a member of the Alabama Bar Association as well as the Alabama District Attorney’s Association. He is also actively involved in his community with the Special Olympics and Interact (Rotary Club).

 

A lifelong resident of Clarke County, he and his wife, Margaret, have two children.
