Public Safety Telecommunicator Week

WHEREAS, Telecommunicators are an essential entity that provide emergency support and communication in the Public Safety community; and

WHEREAS, by providing 24 hour service, Telecommunicators are the first and most important contact between our citizens and their need for a public safety response; and

WHEREAS, Telecommunicators are the communications link that monitors, dispatches and provides information to law enforcement, fire and rescue and emergency medical responders; and

WHEREAS, Telecommunicators, who serve our state are trained and dedicated to take the necessary and appropriate action to assist public safety needs; and

WHEREAS, Telecommunicators are responsible individuals who respond to telephone calls from the general public and dispatch assistance that saves lives and the property of our citizens; and

WHEREAS, Telecommunicators deserve to be recognized for their loyalty and support to assist in emergency and non-emergency situations:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim April 10 through April 16, 2011, as

Public Safety Telecommunicator Week

in the State of Alabama.
