EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 18

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama experienced unprecedented devastation during the month of April, 2011 (the “April Severe Weather Event”);

WHEREAS, forty-three (43) counties have been declared for the Federal Individual Assistance program, sixty-seven (67) counties have been declared for Public Assistance Categories A and B, and thirty-three (33) counties have been declared for Public Assistance Categories C through G;

WHEREAS, long term community recovery will be an ongoing process that will affect multiple local, state and federal agencies;

WHEREAS, the Alabama Governor’s Office is the primary agency for long term community recovery pursuant to the State of Alabama Emergency Operations Plan;

WHEREAS, there are numerous supporting state agencies that assist the Governor’s office in long term community recovery; and,

WHEREAS, the declaration of a coordinating agency to work with the supporting state agencies and private partnerships for long term community recovery will result in a more effective and efficient long term recovery process for the affected citizens of the state.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, do hereby declare the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs as the coordinating agency under the direction of the Governor’s Office for long term community recovery efforts for the April Severe Weather Event.

BE IT FURTHER ORDERED that this Executive Order become effective immediately upon signing and shall remain in force until such time as it is modified or rescinded by the Governor.
