Historical Photo Restoration Day

WHEREAS, Alabama has a long and rich history and heritage, a large portion of which has been documented through photographs; and

WHEREAS, in many cases, photos are the only link that we have to the past and the only thing preserving the memory of what once was; and

WHEREAS, many of the photos documenting the history of this state are damaged and in danger of being lost; and

WHEREAS, the benefits of new technology provide a means of restoring these links to the past, so that we can be reminded of our heritage for many years to come; and

WHEREAS, Alabama wishes to honor the state’s past residents and their accomplishments by taking the necessary means to preserve their memory:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim July 11, 2011, as

Historical Photo Restoration Day

in the State of the Alabama.
