Tornado Recovery Action Council Community Forums Announced

MONTGOMERY— The Tornado Recovery Action Council TRAC) today announced the dates of community forums to be held in Rainsville/Ft. Payne and Hackleburg/Phil Campbell. Residents of these communities are encouraged to attend forums to share their stories from the April 2011 storms and contribute ideas for the state’s future preparedness. Governor Robert Bentley announced the formation of the Tornado Recovery Action Council last month.

Current Community Forum Dates:


Rainsville/Ft. Payne

Monday, Sept. 12th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 13th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

TRAC will hold a total of seven community forums during the month of September. Additional forums will be planned for residents of Pleasant Grove/Pratt City, Tuscaloosa, Elmore County and Shoal Creek Valley. In addition to these events, TRAC will collect feedback and recommendations through its website and social media sites, which may be accessed via the following links:

Upon completion of forums and research, TRAC will develop a report to document what happened on April 27, 2011 and make strategic recommendations for the future. The report, which will be presented to Governor Bentley by mid-January, will help guide state and regional leaders and may include legislative recommendations, action steps for state agencies, and ideas for both public and private organizations involved in disaster preparedness, warning, response and recovery. Recommendations will be based on comprehensive research in addition to feedback collected from community forums and online submissions.

The Tornado Recovery Action Council (TRAC) is made up of 19 community, corporate and non-profit leaders appointed by Governor Bentley.
