Governor Bentley Announces State Government Holiday Closings

MONTGOMERY— Governor Robert Bentley has announced that state government offices will be closed two additional days this year in observance of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are all declared legal holidays in the state of Alabama. 

 

Christmas Day will be observed on Monday, December 26 and New Year’s Day observed on Monday, January 2. State government offices will also be closed on Friday, November 25 and Friday, December 23. 

“Our state employees have been asked to make sacrifices in this challenging economic time for our state,” said Governor Bentley. “I want them to know how much I appreciate the work they do year round. I hope they’ll enjoy spending these additional holidays with friends and family.”
