Catholic Schools Week

WHEREAS, the Catholic Schools of Alabama, and of the entire Nation, traditionally have provided outstanding education to those who have attended them, thus contributing to the welfare of the entire community; and

WHEREAS, the Catholic Schools have provided quality education for thousands of students each year across the State; and

WHEREAS, this year’s theme of “Faith, Academics, Service” celebrates the fact that Catholic Schools add value to the nation; and

WHEREAS, because of their traditionally high academic standards and high graduation rates, Catholic Schools and their graduates make a significant contribution to American society; and

WHEREAS, the Catholic Schools have trained many of the fine leaders in Alabama of both the Catholic Church and of the State, working in virtually all walks of life; and

WHEREAS, by their very existence the Catholic Schools have kept alive the principle of Freedom of Choice in education:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the State of Alabama, do hereby proclaim January 29, 2012 through February 4, 2012, as

Catholic Schools Week

in the State of the Alabama.
