Barbara Dooley Day
WHEREAS, every year one out of two men and one out of three women will be diagnosed with cancer; and
WHEREAS, cancer research dollars are critical to finding the cure for this killer, which strikes so many individuals; and
WHEREAS, local dollars are necessary to obtain millions of federal and private research dollars to fund cancer research; and
WHEREAS, because of today’s research dollars, chemotherapy will be obsolete within a few short years; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Dooley, Birmingham native and cancer survivor, is committed to the cause of finding the cure for cancer; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Dooley is being honored today by the Southeast Cancer Foundation and ROAR as Alabama’s Champion in this life-saving research:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the State of Alabama, do hereby proclaim February 11, 2012, as
Barbara Dooley Day
in the State of the Alabama.
