Boys and Girls Club Day

WHEREAS, the young people of Alabama are tomorrow’s leaders; and

WHEREAS, many such young people need professional youth services to help them achieve their full potential; and

WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs in Alabama provide programs in character and leadership development, health and life skills, education and career development, the arts, and sports and recreation; and

WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs in Alabama provide a positive place for youth by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness and belonging; and

WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs in Alabama develop within all its members the qualities of sound character, leadership and willingness to serve; and.

WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Clubs National Youth of the Year Program is designed to promote and recognize service to Club and community, academic performance and contributions to family and spiritual life; and

WHEREAS, there are 86 Boys & Girls Club sites in the state of Alabama representing 25 organizations that provide services to over 92,000 youth each year:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim February 28, 2012 as

Boys and Girls Club Day

in the state of Alabama.
