“Don’t Drop It On Alabama” Spring Cleanup Week

WHEREAS, the “Don’t Drop It On Alabama” Spring Cleanup will be held April 21 through April 28, 2012; and

WHEREAS, this annual statewide cleanup effort is sponsored by Alabama People Against a Littered State (PALS), whose mission statement is, “Alabama communities working together for a clean and more beautiful Alabama;” and

WHEREAS, Alabama PALS serves as the primary planner and coordinator of this annual cleanup; and

WHEREAS, the title sponsor for the 2012 cleanup effort is Honda Manufacturing of Alabama; and

WHEREAS, additional sponsors for the week-long cleanup effort include ALFA, the Alabama Department of Transportation, Vulcan Materials Company and the Alabama Farmers’ Cooperative; and

WHEREAS, individuals are encouraged to participate in the cleanup of litter from Alabama’s highways and county roadsides, as well as other locations within the state requiring beautification:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of April 21 through April 28, 2012 as

 “Don’t Drop It On Alabama” Spring Cleanup Week

in the state of Alabama, and encourage all citizens to continue to keep our state as “Alabama the Beautiful.”
