Liturgical Dance Day

WHEREAS, every Sunday morning, liturgical dance is expressed through thousands of ministries across the state of Alabama, and dance ministries will celebrate “Liturgical Dance Day” on September 7, 2012; and

WHEREAS, liturgical dance ministers provide valuable evangelical and outreach programs serving the homeless, the needy and our youth by instilling confidence, discipline and a desire to pursue excellence and a love of dance; and

WHEREAS, these men and women dedicate themselves to service in their communities by sharing their gifts and God-given talents through the creative arts; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the International Dance Commission is to serve as a multicultural umbrella organization and as a resource pool for dance, worship arts ministries and dance companies throughout the world; and

WHEREAS, it is the International Dance Commission’s goal to serve as lobbyists in various states on particular issues that directly affect the funding of faith-based programs particularly those that target the arts:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim September 7, 2012 as

Liturgical Dance Day

in the state of Alabama.
