Ben’s Beginners Day
WHEREAS, the second annual Ben’s Beginners Cooking Contest is hosted by the Uncle Ben’s Brand, which is the number-one selling brand of rice in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the contest was created to help children make healthier eating choices by getting in the kitchen with their families at an early age; and
WHEREAS, the mission behind Ben’s Beginners is to inspire more families to participate in the kitchen together; and
WHEREAS, as part of the contest, families nationwide submitted videos of themselves preparing a rice-based dish; and
WHEREAS, the contest received an overwhelming amount of support with nearly 1,000 entries submitted this year; of those entries, three finalists are selected; and
WHEREAS, this year’s finalists traveled to New York City and appeared on an episode of the Rachael Ray Show, which aired in early December; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim January 9, 2014, as
Ben’s Beginners Day
in the state of Alabama.
