Alabama Chemistry Day

WHEREAS, the Manufacture Alabama Chemistry Advisory Council, in conjunction with Manufacture Alabama, will host “Alabama Chemistry Day” on March 18, 2014; and

WHEREAS, American chemistry is essential to our economy and plays a vital role in helping to solve the biggest challenges facing our nation and our world by driving innovations that make our lives and our world healthier, safer, more sustainable and more productive; and

WHEREAS, renewed competiveness in America’s chemical industry is helping to create jobs, grow payrolls and generate new tax revenue, affirming the chemical industry’s role as the cornerstone of our country’s economic future; and

WHEREAS, at $11.8 billion, Alabama chemistry is the third largest manufacturing industry in the state, and provides 10,005 direct jobs and another 32,290 related jobs; and

WHEREAS, Alabama is the 19th largest chemistry producing state; and

WHEREAS, Alabama Chemistry Day’s purpose is to inform and educate public officials on issues relating to chemistry manufacturing:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 18, 2014, as

Alabama Chemistry Day

in the state of Alabama.
