Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Week

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama Sports Hall of Fame was created by an act of the legislature in 1967; and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Museum is a magnificent state treasure dedicated to the celebration and preservation of our state’s exceptional sports heritage; and

WHEREAS, the superb achievements of the present 322 inductees, the commitment to their dreams and the ability to overcome all obstacles, serves as an inspiration to all Alabamians, particularly school groups from all over the state that visit the Hall of Fame at no cost to them through the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Outreach Program; and

WHEREAS, the 46^th class of outstanding sports personalities will be enshrined during the Induction Banquet on May 17, 2014; and

WHEREAS, activities will also include the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame Foundation Great Sports Getaway Reception on Friday, May 16, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Breakfast Saturday, May 17, 2014:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim May 12 through May 17, 2014, as

in the state of Alabama and salute the excellent class of sports greats to be inducted into this state’s outstanding Sports Hall of Fame.
