Certified Professional Coders Day
WHEREAS, a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is an individual of high professional integrity who has passed a coding certification examination; and
WHEREAS, a Certified Professional Coder is an individual who has achieved a certain level of knowledge and expertise in coding of services, procedures and diagnosis for physician and hospital outpatient facility practices; and
WHEREAS, a Certified Professional Coder is an individual who knows how to receive the highest reimbursement possible for the healthcare provider; and
WHEREAS, a CPC keeps current with medical compliance and reimbursement policies, such as medical necessity issues and correct coding issues; and
WHEREAS, a Certified Professional Coder provides training in coding and compliance issues to physicians, non-physician providers and staff on an ongoing basis; and
WHEREAS, a Certified Professional Coder has the knowledge of coding and filing for reimbursement for the provider and/or facility so the practice can be reimbursed promptly and for the full amount allowable; and
WHEREAS, without this dedication and knowledge, decreased efficiency and lost revenue that health care organizations need to stay financially secure, would certainly become an issue:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the State of Alabama, do hereby proclaim May 17, 2014, as
Certified Professional Coders Day
in the state of the Alabama.
