Missing Persons Day
WHEREAS, the unexplained loss of a loved one is incomprehensible to most people; and
WHEREAS, each year, hundreds of Alabama and American families face this tragedy; and
WHEREAS, there are 169 known families in the State of Alabama dealing with the profound devastation of a loved one that is missing; and
WHEREAS, the state of Alabama acknowledges those missing in our state by providing initiatives to assist law enforcement and these families; and
WHEREAS, the state of Alabama is committed to the safety and well-being of all its citizens, both children and adults:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the state of Alabama, do hereby proclaim February 17, 2015, as
Missing Persons Day
in the state of Alabama.
