Youth Volunteer and Service Week
WHEREAS, according to the United States Census, there are more than 100,000 youth between the ages zero to 19 in the state of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, youth volunteers provide the valuable labor and service that keeps many churches, civic organizations and non-profits afloat, allowing them to stretch their program capabilities; and
WHEREAS, each hour that youth spend volunteering and giving back to their community, they are staying away from negative influences; and
WHEREAS, volunteer opportunities provide youth with the training and experience needed to gain work experience and prepare Alabama’s youth to be productive members of their community and state:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of the state of Alabama, do hereby proclaim February 16 through 22, 2015, as
Youth Volunteer and Service Week
in the state of the Alabama.
