American Collegiate Hockey Association Week
WHEREAS, the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) is a chartered non-profit corporation that is the national governing body of non-varsity college ice hockey in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the ACHA provides structure, regulations, promotes the quality of play and sponsors National Awards and National Tournaments; and
WHEREAS, a total of 16 ACHA Men’s Division III teams qualify for the National Tournament, four from each region; and
WHEREAS, the state of Alabama is home to two ACHA Men’s Division III teams at the University of Alabama and Auburn University; and
WHEREAS, the city of Pelham, Alabama, has been selected as the host of the 2015 ACHA Men’s Division III National Championships from March 10 through 14, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena is the home of the University of Alabama’s Frozen Tide; and
WHEREAS, the Pelham Civic Complex and Ice Arena has made significant upgrades to its facilities in preparation for hosting the 2015 ACHA Men’s Division III National Championships; and
WHEREAS, this is the first time that an ACHA National Championship Tournament has been held in the state of Alabama:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 8 through 14, 2015, as
American Collegiate Hockey Association Week
in the state of Alabama.
