American Red Cross Month

WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is on the front lines every day, donating blood, volunteering time, offering lifesaving courses and providing financial donations to those in need; and

WHEREAS, the state of Alabama commends the tireless efforts of Red Cross heroes when someone needs lifesaving blood, during disaster or the comfort of a helping hand, their round-the-clock support to members of the military, veterans and their families and their efforts to teach lifesaving classes in CPR, aquatics safety and first aid; and

WHEREAS, across the nation and around the world, the American Red Cross has responded to hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and wildfires, the tragedy at the Boston Marathon and typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines; and

WHEREAS, the state of Alabama dedicates the month of March to all those who support the American Red Cross mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies; and

WHEREAS, our communities depend on the American Red Cross, which relies on donations of time, money and blood to fulfill its humanitarian mission:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 2015, as

American Red Cross Month

in the state of Alabama.
