Health Information Professionals Week
WHEREAS, health information management professionals in Alabama are concerned about the quality of health information and the confidentiality of health data as a right of the citizens of the state of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, these professionals in Alabama healthcare facilities work with administrative and clinical staffs to design and maintain health information systems to collect, manage and disseminate clinical, financial and administrative data with consideration for patient privacy; and
WHEREAS, providing support, representation and training to professionals within the healthcare industry, the American Health Information Management Association has taken leadership in this important area, seeking to improve the state of medical record-keeping through initiatives, training and awareness campaigns; and
WHEREAS, these professionals are charged with the responsibility for developing and maintaining accurate and efficient health record systems in hospitals, physician clinics, ambulatory care centers, long term care facilities, mental health clinics as well as managed care organizations, insurance companies, governmental agencies and research and educational centers; and
WHEREAS, as part of their current efforts, March 22 through 28, 2015, has been designed to increase the awareness about Health Information Management Professionals:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 22 through 28, 2015, as
Health Information Professionals Week
in the state of Alabama.
