Men’s Health Week
WHEREAS, educating the public and health care providers about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and early detection of male health problems will result in reducing mortality rates from disease; and
WHEREAS, men can improve their health by getting sufficient sleep, quitting tobacco, engaging in moderate-intensity aerobic activity, eating a variety of fruits and vegetables every day, being alert to signs and symptoms of illness and getting treatment, and getting immunizations to stay healthy; and
WHEREAS, men who are educated about the value of preventive health will be more likely to participate in health screening; and
WHEREAS, the Men’s Health Network worked with Congress to develop National Men’s Health Week as a special campaign to help educate men and their families about the importance of positive health attitudes and preventive health practices; and
WHEREAS, in Alabama, Men’s Health Week will focus on a broad range of men’s health issues including heart disease, diabetes, prostate, testicular, and colon cancer; and
WHEREAS, Alabamians are encouraged to increase awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, and medical checkups; and healthier men live happier, longer lives:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of June 15 through June 21, 2015, as
Men’s Health Week
in the state of Alabama.
