Small Business Week
WHEREAS, during Small Business Week, we honor the courage, tenacity and innovation of the small business men and women of the state of Alabama; their dedication and entrepreneurial spirit keep the American dream alive and the American economy growing stronger; and
WHEREAS, small businesses are the very heart of the economy of the state of Alabama – two-thirds of all net new jobs in our country are created by small businesses; and
WHEREAS, on a daily basis, small businesses drive innovation, redefine excellence and start new paths to prosperity; and
WHEREAS, as our nation’s economy continues to grow stronger, we must encourage the spirit of enterprise and create an environment where entrepreneurs can flourish; and
WHEREAS, in September 2014, Governor Robert Bentley announced the creation of the Alabama Small Business Commission to promote policies that will assist new business start-ups and the expansion of existing small businesses; and
WHEREAS, small business owners and workers should be commended for their contributions to our state’s prosperity and for reflecting the true entrepreneurial spirit of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, Alabama supports our local small businesses that create jobs, boost our economy and preserve our neighborhoods:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of May 20 through May 26, 2015, as
Small Business Week
in the state of Alabama.
