Amateur Radio Week

WHEREAS, the state of Alabama is home to more than 17,000 licensed amateur radio operators who repeatedly demonstrate their immense value to the citizens of this state by providing emergency communications during natural disasters and other non-weather related calamities; and

WHEREAS, these amateur radio operators generously operate privately owned communications resources for the welfare and common good of Alabama’s citizenry; and

WHEREAS, these amateur radio operators diligently monitor amateur radio frequencies in preparation for any emergency on a state and world-wide basis; and

WHEREAS, , these amateur radio operators always practice and refine their communication skills especially during the American Radio Relay League’s (ARRL) annual Field Day exercises; and

WHEREAS, the annual Amateur Radio Field Day event is June 27-28, 2015:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby declare the week of June 22 through 28, 2015, as

in the state of Alabama in recognition of their voluntary communication services and I urge all Alabama citizens to pay tribute to these selfless ambassadors of goodwill.
