Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, Airbus is built on a firm foundation of aeronautical history in the state of Alabama, laid in part by the Wright brothers’ first civilian flight school in Montgomery in 1910; and

WHEREAS, in July of 2012, Airbus announced the intent to build a first-class aircraft production facility in Mobile, AL; and

WHEREAS, the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility will produce the A320 family jetliner; and

WHEREAS, Airbus is the first manufacturing facility of its kind in the United States; and

WHEREAS, the impact that Airbus in Mobile will have in the community, region, and state are significant and a welcome addition to a place that has been making great strides in advanced manufacturing; and

WHEREAS, the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility will provide 1,000 new jobs in the state of Alabama; and

WHEREAS, Airbus is part of Alabama’s efforts to propel the state’s economy, workforce, and quality of life into the future; and

WHEREAS, by initiating the burying of a time capsule, to be opened in sixty years, Airbus is solidifying its commitment to being a part of this state’s future and the future of aeronautical manufacturing around the world:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim September, 2015, as

Airbus Month

in the State of Alabama.
