National Voter Registration Month & National Voter Registration Day
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, registering to vote empowers eligible citizens to exercise their right to vote on Election Day; and
WHEREAS, while our state has made great progress with Alabama residents currently registered to vote, additional citizens are eligible, but have not yet registered; and
WHEREAS, the voter registration process in Alabama is easier and more convenient than ever before, with applications available online and at local board of registrars, and all state or county offices that provide public assistance; and
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama has an online voter registration look up feature system, to enabling citizens to register, check and update their registration status; and
WHEREAS, the need for public information and education regarding voter registration and related deadlines is extremely critical as Alabama voters prepare to take part in the 2015 Statewide Election and the 2016 presidential election cycle:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim September 2015, as
National Voter Registration Month
and September 22, 2015, as
National Voter Registration Day
in the State of Alabama.
