The Great Central United States ShakeOut Day

Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, The Great Central United States ShakeOut creates an important opportunity for all residents of Alabama to prepare their homes, places of business, and communities for the possibility of an earthquake; and

WHEREAS, Investing in our own preparedness, and that of our families, businesses, and hometowns, can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our nation; and

WHEREAS, The Alabama Department of Emergency Management, along with the Central United States Earthquake Consortium, and other federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private, and volunteer agencies, are working to increase public activities that prepare the public to take action when earthquake emergencies arise; and

WHEREAS, All citizens of Alabama are encouraged to participate in The Great Central United States ShakeOut procedures and to visit the Web site of the Great ShakeOut at www.shakeout.org to become better prepared and to register to be counted in the ShakeOut Drill:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim October 15, 2015, as

The Great Central United States ShakeOut Day

in the State of Alabama.
