Toastmaster Week
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, Toastmasters International helps members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 13,500 clubs in 116 countries that make up its global network of meeting locations; and
WHEREAS, Toastmasters meetings are a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere; and
WHEREAS, members evaluate one another’s presentations and provide constructive feedback which is a key part of the program’s success; and
WHEREAS, meeting participants also give impromptu talks on assigned topics, conduct meetings and develop skills related to timekeeping, grammar and parliamentary procedure; and
WHEREAS, members learn to enhance their communication skills by working in the Competent Communication manual, a series of self-paced speaking assignments designed to instill a basic foundation in public speaking; and
WJEREAS, members learn to enhance their leadership skills by working in the Competent Leadership manual, a series of self-paced leadership assignments designed to enhance leadership skills; and
WHEREAS, on October 23 through 25, 2015, the Toastmasters of District 77 is holding its Fall Conference at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Alabama:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim October 18 through 25, 2015, as
Toastmaster Week
in the State of Alabama.
