World Space Week
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, Since the United Nations declaration in 1999, World Space Week it has grown into the largest public space event on Earth; and
WHEREAS, the mission of World Space Week Association is to strengthen the link between space and society through public education, participation, and dialogue on the future of space activity using World Space Week as a focus; and
WHEREAS, the State of Alabama is a leading space state; and
WHEREAS, Alabamians designed and built the rockets that first put humans on the Moon and is inextricably tied to humankind’s advancements in space; and
WHEREAS, the space industry in Alabama is of vital importance to a vibrant state economy:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim October 4 through 10, 2015, as
World Space Week
in the State of Alabama.
