National Engineers Week

Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, Engineers Week is an annual event to increase public awareness and appreciation of engineers and their work; and

WHEREAS, engineers unite with the public annually in February to acknowledge the ingenuity and contributions they bring to humanity; and

WHEREAS, as they contribute to our prosperity and quality of life, engineers use scientific and technical knowledge and skills in creative and innovative ways to fulfill society’s needs; and

WHEREAS, engineers provide an essential service to our community as they face major challenges to rebuild domestic infrastructure devastated by natural disasters as well as work with state and federal officials to build and protect our communities; and

WHEREAS, engineers offer a unique opportunity to cultivate interest in math, science and engineering among our nation’s youth, tomorrow’s workforce; and

WHEREAS, our state is pleased to honor its professional engineers and the exceptional roles they play in the development of the state of Alabama:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of February 21 through February 27, 2016, as

National Engineers Week

in the State of Alabama and urge all citizens to recognize the talents and contributions of this diverse group of professionals and their ongoing contributions to the State of Alabama.
