Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, Christian McLeod Cooper was born on April 24, 1991 in Birmingham, Alabama to Dr. Kay and Earl Cooper; and

WHEREAS, Christian is the loving brother of his sister Erin; and

WHEREAS, Christian grew up in Hoover and is a graduate of Hoover High School where he was a member of the first Hoover High School Lacrosse Team and part of the first state championship winning team; and

WHEREAS, Christian was also an Eagle Scout as a member of Troop 23 and a member of the Hoover Choir and Show Choir; and

WHEREAS, Christian attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity; and

WHEREAS, Christian enjoys music, backpacking, camping, water sports, hunting and travel and has an adventurous soul; and

WHEREAS, on February 27, 2016, Christian’s car caught fire in a horrific single car accident that left him with severe 3rd degree burns over 75% of his body; and

WHEREAS, Christian was admitted to the Joseph M Still Burn Unit at Doctor’s Hospital in Augusta, Georgia where he is receiving exceptional treatment; and

WHEREAS, on March 28, Christian will undergo Cultured Epithelial Autograft surgery to replace the damaged skin; and

WHEREAS, Christian is loved and cherished by his family and extensive network of friends and loved ones:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim March 28, 2016, as

Christian Cooper Day

in the State of Alabama.
