Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Days

Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo is the Official Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo in the State of Alabama; and

WHEREAS, 260 individuals participated in the first Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo held in 1929, and

WHEREAS, since that time, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo has grown in popularity and now attracts more than 3,000 fisherman and women and more than 60,000 spectators each year; and

WHEREAS, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo was named by the Guiness Book of World Records as the world’s largest fishing tournament in 2011; and

WHEREAS, this year’s rodeo will be held July 15 through July 17, 2016; and

WHEREAS, since 1929, the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo has stimulated the local economy and helped  to bring Alabama into the national spotlight:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim July 15 through July 17, 2016, as

Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo Days

in the State of Alabama.
