MONTGOMERY (Governor’s Office) – Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday held a swearing-in ceremony for Mike Hill of Columbiana as the Superintendent of the State Banking Department. Hill was appointed on Friday to replace John D. Harrison who retired on Thursday after more than a decade of service.

Hill was elected in 1986 to the Alabama House of Representatives, serving Shelby County. Hill received his B.S. Degree from Auburn University, attended the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University, and Commercial Lending School from the University of Oklahoma.

Hill served on the House of Representatives Banking and Insurance Committee (now the Financial Services Committee) for the past 30 years. During that time Hill handled most of the major banking legislation that was introduced and passed during that period including updates to banking regulations and other revisions.
