The Patriarchate of Saint Stephen Day and Humanitarian Day
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, the Old Roman Catholic Patriarchate of St. Stephen has a long history of providing humanitarian and charitable service through its mandate of mission, service, and charity, following the example of Saint Stephen the Deacon and Protomartyr; and
WHEREAS, the Patriarchate promotes and facilitates selfless service through its own and other organizations; and
WHEREAS, the Patriarchate has provided valuable contributions to the preservation of ecclesiastical and secular history through dedicated research and the publication of books, articles, and other media; and
WHEREAS, the Patriarchate remains an important historical remnant of ancient Christian ecclesiastical history; and
WHEREAS, the Patriarchate has served in diverse ways within the State of Alabama:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim August 3rd, 2016, as
The Patriarchate of Saint Stephen Day and Humanitarian Day
in the State of Alabama.
