Safety in the Workplace Week
Proclamation
By the Governor of Alabama
WHEREAS, in 2015, the state of Alabama reported 31 occupational-related fatalities; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, the state of Alabama reported thousands of injuries in the workplace,
resulting in worker’s compensation and medical payments of more than $694 million; and
WHEREAS, Alabama employers and employees in the public sector, private industries and
businesses recognize the need to safeguard from injuries in the workplace; and
WHEREAS, a safe and healthy workplace ensures the highest quality work environment possible; and
WHEREAS, this endeavor is worthy of our support and cooperation to reduce the toll of
workplace injuries and deaths; and
WHEREAS, employees and employers within the state of Alabama seek to work together to promote workplace safety:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim August 29th, through September 2nd, 2016, as
