Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, Manufacturing Day is an effective way to highlight the importance of manufacturing to the economy and draw attention to the many rewarding, high-skill jobs that are available in manufacturing; and

WHEREAS, Manufacturing Day is an opportunity to introduce state-of-the art manufacturing facilities to a new generation of students and future workers; and

WHEREAS, partnerships between manufacturing businesses and educational institutions at all levels are essential in preparing students for manufacturing careers today and in the future; and

WHEREAS, manufacturing supports 18.5 million U.S. jobs and comprises 12 percent of the U.S. gross domestic product; and

WHEREAS, Alabama manufactures account for 17.7 percent of the state’s total output; and

WHEREAS, the state of Alabama is fortunate to be the home of many great manufacturing businesses, some of which are world leaders in their respective fields, employing more than 250,000 people; and

WHEREAS, our community’s manufacturing companies are vitally important to the prosperity of the state of Alabama:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim October 7, 2016, as

Manufacturing Day

in the State of Alabama.
