Alabama’s Prepare-A-Thon Day

Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, “Alabama’s Prepare-A-Thon Day” calls to action every resident of the State of Alabama to prepare their homes, businesses and communities for any type of emergency ranging from natural disasters to potential terrorist attacks; and

WHEREAS, “Alabama’s Prepare-A-Thon Day” recognizes that investing in emergency preparedness for ourselves, our families, businesses and communities can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities in Alabama and across our nation; and

WHEREAS, the State of Alabama’s Ready Alabama Campaign, Alabama Emergency Management Agency and other federal, state, local and volunteer agencies are working to increase public activities in preparation for emergencies and to educate individuals on how to take action; and

WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of every citizen of the State of Alabama to prepare for emergencies. All citizens are urged to make preparedness a priority while working together to ensure that individuals, families and communities are prepared for the possibility of   any type of disasters and emergencies:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim September 30, 2016, as

Alabama’s Prepare-A-Thon Day

in the State of Alabama, and encourage all citizens to participate in community preparedness activities, review preparedness information in the Ready Alabama section of the Serve Alabama website at ServeAlabama.gov, develop an emergency preparedness plan, build an emergency preparedness kit and stay informed of all potential emergency events.
