Proclamation

By the Governor of Alabama

WHEREAS, throughout our country’s history, the people of our great state and nation have worked together to ensure the preservation of the American ideals of freedom and liberty we enjoy today; and

WHEREAS, understanding American history and America’s first principles are indispensable to the survival of our republic as a free people; and

WHEREAS, in great reverence to the victims of the attacks on September 11, 2001, and in recognition of the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787, all American citizens must take time to honor the first principles, founders, documents, and symbols of their history to ensure that each generation is equipped to preserve our liberty and freedom:

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Robert Bentley, Governor of Alabama, do hereby proclaim the week of September 11th, through September 17th, 2016, as

Patriot Week

in the State of Alabama and encourage all Alabamians to renew their appreciation and understanding of America’s spirit and reflect on the importance of patriotism to America’s past, present and future.
